The Old Kings Head Hotel is one of the oldest buildings in Broughton-in-Furness with a recorded history of 300 years. We are located in an easily accessible part of the town on the edge of the Lake District National Park and comfortably within range of the joys of the Lake District fells, coast and lakes.

The Old Kings Head is a comfortingly traditional family run hotel, bar and restaurant of oak beams, open fires, quality home cooked food, an honest pint and a comfortable bed for the night.

We are an ideal base from where guests can explore this area of Cumbria which has long been renowned for its peace, natural beauty and diverse range of wildlife habitats. Visitors will soon discover miles of walks, hikes and cycle rides to suit all levels of abilities and, we are not far from the popular lakes of Coniston and Windermere.

Returning from a day on the fells, hotel guests and day visitors can relax at the Kings Head Hotel with a pre-dinner drink from a well stocked bar followed by a hearty meal selected from our Choice of the Day menu or a fine flavoured speciality fish dish prepared by our leading chef.

In a quiet corner of Windermere village you will come across Chestnuts Guest House offering excellent bed and breakfast accommodation. We are perfectly situated to make the most of Lake Windermere and its beautiful surrounding area.
We are only five minutes walk from Windermere village and ten minutes walk to Bowness village and Lake Windermere.

Chestnuts Bed and Breakfast offers a delightful homely atmosphere and a high standard of comfort and service. The guest house itself is a century old, enjoying both secluded gardens & private parking.

There is a choice of seven elegantly furnished bedrooms all named after the Lake District lakes. We have three rooms with king -sized four poster beds plus three rooms with standard king size beds and one twin bedded room, all have en-suite facilities.

As well as the traditional full English breakfast we offer a vegetarian option and alternatives such as smoked salmon with scrambled eggs.

Guests of The Chestnuts who book with us direct and are staying more than three days have free use of the spa at The Old England Hotel in Bowness. Facilities offered include swimming pool, gym and sauna. (To any other guests there is a small charge of £4 per person.)

We also have bike storage available and are happy to give advice on walking in the surrounding area and the whole of the Lake District National Park.

We are very sorry, The Chestnuts does not accept children under eight years old. We regret that we are also unable to take pets.

Crake Valley is a small family run holiday park close to the picturesque holiday village of Coniston, with a maximum of ten static holiday caravans and five timber lodges all maintained in first class condition and set in lovely surroundings with a large variety of birds and wildlife.

The park is situated in an elevated position across from Coniston Water, which is only a short walk away, sheltered on three sides by mature oak trees, with views across to the Coniston Old Man mountain and surrounding fells, the park opens onto Blawith Common, which is an extensive area of wild and craggy moorland where you can wander at will, with lovely walks to Beacon Tarn and Torver. It is an ideal base for touring the lakes, with all visitor attractions within easy reach, but a car is advisable to get the most of your holiday. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
We have two caravans that are pet free.

We have 5 timber clad lodges, 4 two bedroom and 1 three bedroom all 37' long x 12' wide and completely self contained. All comprise of lounge/dining room with French windows leading onto a balcony with patio furniture. At Crake Valley we are very proud that for the last 16 years we have been recipients of the Bellamy GOLD Award for environmental conservation which was voted for by guests who have visited our park.

The main bedroom has a double bed, while the second (and in one case the third) contains two single beds. There are heaters in all bedrooms. The bathroom has a shower cubicle, wash basin, toilet and shaver point.
All our caravans are completely self contained and fully equipped with electricity, hot water, shower and flush toilets.
