One of the most historic and luxurious hotels in the Lake District, The Wordsworth Hotel Grasmere has formally welcomed guests ranging from President Woodrow Wilson, Royalty and famous artists and poets over the years.
The hotel has recently undergone a major refurbishment and is the perfect place for a relaxing break, or as a comfortable base for the many attractions of the Lake District.
The hotel stands in its own landscaped riverside gardens in the heart of Grasmere village, with awesome views from the comfortable lounges, conservatory, heated indoor swimming pool and terrace.
Our stunning Signature restaurant has 2 AA red Rosettes awarded for its fine food.
The luxury Lake District accommodation consists of 34 bedrooms and 2 luxury suites, which reflect the country house feel of the Hotel.
All rooms have flat screen TV’s, direct-dial telephones, WI-FI internet access and complimentary tea & coffee facilities. There are many personal touches to enhance your stay, for example our own specially-bottled mineral water. 24-hour room service is available for drinks and light refreshments. All our rooms also have well-equipped bathrooms with luxury toiletries and thick towelling bathrobes, duvets and Egyptian cotton linen.
The different standard of rooms available range from:
Classic, Standard have all the facilities but don’t have the views that other rooms enjoy.
Superior, good sized rooms with lovely furnishings. Most have good views.
Executive, spacious and have either stunning Grasmere Vale, garden or mountain views.
Suites, with separate lounge and bathrooms which have whirlpool baths and walk in shower, they have views of the mountains.
We have two rooms on the ground floor, with access to the terrace, and honeymooners have a choice of romantic four-poster rooms or our suites. For families we have adjoining rooms with twin or single beds. There is a lift to both upper floors. Guests with dogs are invited to stay in our ground floor rooms.

Built in 1852, this beautiful Lakeland stone house is the ideal location for a few days away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Woodland Crag and its lovely fellside garden is only a five minute walk away from the centre of the charming village of Grasmere.
From the garden gate you can join the fellside path up to Alcock Tarn. Alternatively, take the level walk to Ambleside along the historic “coffin route” passing through the hamlet of Rydal, taking in stunning views of both Rydal Water and Grasmere lake.
Walkers are especially welcome, we have a drying room for wet clothes and muddy boots.

An ideal retreat for a romantic break, honeymoon, small family holiday, with friends or alone, or book all three for a group gathering! The most stunning rural location in the Lake District, and only a short walk into the hustle and bustle of Ambleside.
Luxury camping at its very best in the heart of the Lake District National Park. The The best fell walks in Cumbria, and an opportunity to really get away from the madding crowds.
These huts are beautifully equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. Each one has a double bed, single bunk bed with hyper allergenic memory foam mattresses and fresh colourful duvets and linen. The views from the stable door and windows are amazing and the wood burning stove will keep you toasty warm. The Shepherd Huts each have their own outside brazier and bench and we are happy to accept one well behaved dog.
